It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE bookworm. I absolutely love learning and reading is my favorite way to do it! So when it comes to brushing up on business skills and learning new things, I hit the books.
Today I wanted to share with you four books that have made a significant impact on me and my business.
Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance
Reading this book was the beginning of a big mindset shift for me when it came to my business. As business owners, I’m willing to be we’ve all fallen prey to the imposter syndrome – thinking I don’t have enough training, or the right education, or enough experience to offer these services and run my business. I know I have! This book goes into the science behind why some people are successful and others aren’t. The defining difference? Perseverance. Endurance matters more than talent. Persistence gets you through rough waters in business, not simply riding the waves of talent. Read more about this here and here.
If I had to pick just one marketing book to refer you to, it’d be this one. Donald Miller is an intuitive storyteller and in this book, he brings all that he’s learned as a businessman and a novelist together in teaching you how to craft a narrative for your business. He helps you get to the heart of the true benefits – emotional and psychological – of why your business and services matter and make a difference in the lives of your customers and clients. It’s a marketing must-read.
This is another great book on learning how to keep showing up, no matter what, and how that will help you and your business succeed.
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
I’ve never been into that woo-woo stuff however, this past year I’ve learned that the biggest thing holding me back in my business was my mindset around money, success, and client relationships. Shifting your mindset is a powerful way to rid yourself of fears, guilt, and other self-sabotaging thought patterns that can hold you back in both your personal and professional life.
Tell me: what books have you benefited from?
