3 Reasons Why Your Website Isn’t Converting

by | Web Design, Website Strategy

If you’re like most creative entrepreneurs that I chat with each week on my free discovery calls, then you might understand this struggle…

You *have* a website but it isn’t really helping you grow your business. It’s not helping you sell your services or book more calls. And this honestly breaks my lil web designer heart!

Because I know first hand the real results your website could be creating for your business – meaning more clients in the door and more projects on the books.

Today let’s talk about three reasons why your website isn’t converting and tips on how to shift that!

It’s not clear what you do (even if you think it is)

If what you do and whom you help isn’t super clear on your website, no one is going to stick around and try to figure it out. They’ll just go back to google and find a competitor.

Instead, ditch the business jargon and industry lingo and re-write your website copy like how you speak. Ask yourself, if someone came to my website for the first time, would they know what I do and who I help within the first 10 seconds?

There are too many call to actions

When you’re asking people to do several things (like book a call! sign up for my newsletter! download my free guide!) then your message isn’t streamlined enough and you’re asking someone to make another decision, which inherently puts up a barrier between them and that action. Decision fatigue anyone?

Instead, decide which action matters the most to you and focus on that CTA as the main one throughout your website. If you ultimately want people to book a call with you, have that be the CTA on your homepage, about page, contact page, sales page, blog posts, etc.

You don’t post about or market your website

There’s a common misconception that once you put your website on the internet it will start magically appearing in front of your ideal clients. There are three main ways to get your website in front of more people – paid advertising, SEO, and organic marketing, and it’s important to not lean all on one method.

Instead, promote your website regularly by creating fresh content (helpful and knowledge blog posts on your area of expertise that ties back to your business) and use that content to post on your social media and email to your list. Have your social media CTA point back to your website. In order to maximize your website’s potential, you gotta give it a lil love!

Would you like some extra support?

I offer a limited number of free discovery calls each week to creative entrepreneurs just like yourself who know their website could be doing MORE for their business but don’t know where to start.

During these free 20 minute calls we’ll review your website and identify what’s working, what’s not, and areas for improvement so that you know the potential your website has to increase conversions, help you find new clients, and book more projects. So whether or not we work together you’ll have the knowledge you need to take positive action and start increasing your website conversions asap.
